In Anchorage

Took in the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum this morning at the Ted Stevens International Airport.  The museum was pretty interesting and had videos and a lot of information on early aviation in Alaska and of the salvaging of some of the aircraft on display in the museum.

This is one of the display areas in the museum.  The picture doesn't do it justice, the displays were pretty cool.

Behind the museum and adjacent to the airport was Lake Hood, which is a float plant base.
Small float planes were constantly taking off and landing:

This plane had just taken off from the lake and I saw several take off and land while I was there.  Apparently, float planes are a big deal when you have lots of lakes and few airfields.

Not much else to report on Anchorage.  Leaving in the morning for Tok, Alaska, about 300 miles northeast of here and on the Alaska Hiway.  Miles today:  29.  Total:  5,651.
